  • RESTORING THE WET CHURCH An attempt to restore the wet church, Or from the Welch’s dry church to the wet church of the New Testament. Paul wrote, “Do not let anyone judge you by what your eat or drink, or with regard to religious festivals, new moons or Sabbaths” (Co 2:16). This passage is hard to be understood correctly by the Orthodox Jews, because they still observe religious festivals, new moons and Sabbaths, and it is hard to be understood correctly by the American teetotal ultra conservative believers because they forbid the consumption of wine. The one who harasses his brother who drinks wine in moderation, should not be considered as someone weak in the faith whom should not be scandalized, but as an inquisitor who should be corrected.
  • RESTORING THE WET CHURCH (Part two) An attempt to restore the wet church Or from the Welch’s dry church to the wet church of the New Testament “May the wine go straight to my lover, flowing gently over lips and teeth”. (Song of Songs 7:9). According to Jesus, the preachers who are welcomed in a house should “Stay in that house, eating and drinking, whatever they give to you” (Lk 10:7). The wine is not excluded. “Never abandon the old friends; you can never find a new one who can take their place. Friendship is like wine; it gets better as grows old”. (Sirach or Ecclesiasticus 9:10) (Second century BC).
  • RESTORING THE WET CHURCH (Part three) An attempt to restore the wet church Or from the Welch’s dry church to the wet church of the New Testament The vine answered, “Should I give up my wine, which cheers God and men…?”(Judges 9:13). “Wine is at the head of all medicines; where wine is lacking, drugs are necessary…There is no gladness without wine”. Babylonian Talmud (IV and VI centuries AD).
  • RESTORING THE WET CHURCH (Part four) An attempt to restore the wet church Or from the Welch’s dry church to the wet church of the New Testament The proto Lord’s Supper “Then Melchizedek King of Salem brought out (to Abraham) bread and wine” (Genesis 14:18). “Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with joyful heart, for it is now that God favours what you do” (Ec 9:7).
  • RESTORING THE WET CHURCH (Part five) An attempt to restore the wet church Or from the Welch’s dry church to the wet church of the New Testament God gives, “Wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart” (Ps 104:15) “No poem was ever written by a drinker of water”. Homer (end VIII century BC), Greek epic poet.
