Don’t Despise Where You Are Июль 13, 2010

Don’t despise the days of small beginnings; everything great started out small. Ronald and Maurice McDonald started with one restaurant in California in 1940, but some seventy years later there are over 31,000 McDonald restaurants in 119 countries around the world. When God places something in your heart, it’s up to you to step out and do it. Your starting days may be simple, and they should be, because they give you time to grow and develop into the individual that God has called you to be. The challenge comes when we allow feelings of inadequacy or failure to overwhelm us. You can’t look at what you have accomplished up to this point and consider it to be something insignificant. God placed dreams and desires inside of every one of us. His plans are blessed, which means they are loaded with the ability to prosper.

Nothing can stop you when you are following the path that God has designed for you. It may seem insignificant or trivial today, but if you continue to move forward and stay on the path that God has mapped out for you, your future days will be great. In Matthew 25:21 Jesus said, “You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.”

When you are faithful to take care of the small things God has given you, it will be just a matter of time before God increases what you have and where you are. Every one of us must be proven before God in order for him to allow us to walk in places of greatness. Being great is an earned position; it’s not something God takes lightly. He’s not on the street corner handing greatness out to any person passing by. Greatness comes to those who have stood the test of time, those who have shown themselves to be loyal, trustworthy, and capable of holding integrity. The foundation of every endeavor is only as strong as the character and integrity of the visionary. If your character is weak the same will be for your business, ministry, etc. I once heard someone say, “God won’t allow you to grow to a place that your character can’t keep you.” To that I say, “Amen.”

There are a few reasons that we will find ourselves despising where you are in life.

The first is that we constantly have our eyes on others. Get your eyes off of other people. Looking and comparing yourself to others is the number one enemy to anyone’s vision or dream. As long as you live there will always be someone doing things on a greater level than you, but you can’t allow that to be your focus. Those you are watching started out just like you, but through diligence and determination they have grown to be where they are. 2 Corinthians 10:12 says when we compare ourselves among ourselves we are not wise.

Second reason: Tough times. Don’t’ quit when it gets rough. There will always be adversaries to any great vision. Satan never wastes ammunition on a target with no value. The very fact that you face opposition can be a clear sign that you are on the path that God has for your life. Stand strong. Strengthen your resolve, and be willing to fight any foe coming against your dream or vision.

Third reason: Don’t overlook those in the trenches with you. Value those God has given you no matter who they are. Pour your efforts into them ensuring that they receive all they need to move the dream forward. Invest in them and ignore all others. We waste precious time focusing on those who have no real interest in our vision, or those busy criticizing and judging. Instead, it’s better for us to join in and lock arms so we can help make the vision what God wants.

What you have from God is great, but it has to grow. Let it grow and instead of despising where you are, thank God for who he is and what he has done in your life. Praise him no matter what is going on. Show God that you appreciate his call and/or gift on your life and that you are willing to endure whatever you have to in order to accomplish his will in the earth. Your days of being in charge of many things are closer than you think!

Daily Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:11; Matthew 25:21 (NIV); 2 Corinthians 10:12

Daily Prayer: Father I appreciate what you have given me. Although it may not be what I want it to be, I have peace knowing that you are helping me. Thank you for the expected end that you have for me (Jeremiah 29:11). I commit my life to reaching that expected end and I thank you that even where I am today, I will still bring you the greatest glory. I’ll be faithful in the small things so that one day you will make me in charge of many things.

In Jesus name, Amen.
